HYATT CENTRIC HOTEL

HOBART

Located in Hobart’s CBD on one of the city’s principal heritage streetscapes, the Hyatt Centric Hotel is a contemporary infill building, providing 221 quality rooms and a range of public and private in-house amenities.

This development will see the welcome addition to the Hobart accommodation market of the international Hotel brand Hyatt. The Hotel will operate as a Hyatt Centric Hotel, a new lifestyle concept of hotels that deliver an upscale, cosmopolitan experience in the heart of prime destinations.

The site is a narrow, irregular shaped block with two street frontages, the primary entrance into the hotel accessed from Elizabeth Street. The design provides a highly active ground floor which will be enhanced by a pedestrian promenade through the foyer spaces up to Trafalgar Place.

The hotel has been conceived as a family of buildings, breaking down the overall mass into smaller components and thus reducing the visual bulk of the building. The podium steps down, relating to Elizabeth Street in scale and form, while the materials and fenestration provide a contemporary interpretation of the adjacent heritage buildings
